Q: 'Should I use a view-all page or keep paginated category pages?'
Short answer: View-all wins for SEO when the page stays fast — measure load time first.
The longer version: A book retailer tested a canonical view-all page (all 180 titles in a category) against the standard ?page=2,3,4 setup. They lazy-loaded images so the view-all stayed under 2.5s LCP. Over 10 weeks across 40 categories, the view-all versions consolidated link signals onto one URL and ranked an average of 2.6 positions higher for head terms. Deeper products that used to sit on page 3 (rarely crawled) started getting indexed reliably. The catch: on a fashion category with 900 items, view-all blew past 6s load — there, paginated with self-referencing canonicals performed better.
Rule of thumb: View-all up to ~200 items. Past that, paginate and let each page self-canonicalize.
