Does building a topic cluster really beat scattering random posts?

Does building a topic cluster really beat scattering random posts?

Q: Should I just write whatever I feel like, or commit to one cluster?

A: Short answer: cluster, and the data is stark. Longer answer: a gardening site ran an accidental experiment. For 6 months they published 40 random posts across vegetables, tools, soil, pests — total of 600 clicks/month. Then they picked ONE cluster, "raised bed gardening," and wrote 18 interlinked posts (one pillar, 17 supporting) over 10 weeks. That single cluster alone hit 4,200 clicks/month within 4 months — 7x the entire scattered phase. Why? Internal links plus topical depth told Google they were a genuine authority on that one thing. Pick a hill, own it, then move to the next.

Anyone want me to go deeper on this? React 👍
