My highest-ROI refresh move: add what changed SINCE the post ranked.
Most refreshes just reword old paragraphs. Pointless. Google sees a synonym swap and shrugs.
The refresh that works: I add a dated section covering what's NEW since publish — a new tool, a changed rule, a 2026 update. Genuinely fresh information, not rephrased old info.
— Gives Google a real reason to re-evaluate
— Gives the reader a reason the page is current
— Earns the 'updated' date honestly
Did this to a 2-year-old guide last month. Position 7 to 2, because it became the most current page on the topic.
Don't reword. Add news. Go update one for real.
