A SaaS-tips creator had a 90-second tutorial that flopped at 800 views. Same script, same footage — he only re-cut the first 3 seconds, moving the payoff line to the front. Re-uploaded.

The mechanism: the first push is decided almost entirely on early retention. His original opened with a 4-second logo-and-intro; viewers swiped before the value landed, so the 3-second retention reading was catastrophic and the test pool never expanded. Front-loading the payoff fixed the only number the initial cohort was generating.

"The algorithm will find good content" is false. The algorithm reads your first three seconds and decides whether good content even gets a second cohort.
