"I got shadowbanned — my reach died overnight"
A travel creator was certain. 80k followers, views collapsed from 25k to 1,500, posted nothing for two weeks to "reset the ban."
I pulled her analytics. The collapse started exactly when she switched from fast-cut destination clips to slow vlog-style talking content. Average watch time had dropped from 11 seconds to 4.
No ban. A format change the audience rejected.
When she returned to the original format, views recovered to 22k inside four uploads — faster than any "shadowban lift" timeline she'd read about.
The mechanism: there's no profile-level throttle switch. Reach is recomputed per video from retention. "Shadowban" is almost always a watch-time cliff wearing a conspiracy costume.
Before you blame a ban, pull your average watch time. The answer is usually in that one number.
