Adding chapters that doubled a video's carousel views
Today's lesson: a video carousel — that sideways-scrolling row of videos in search — favors videos Google can map out clearly.
Real example: a cooking channel had a great 12-minute recipe video, but it sat as one long block. Google showed it rarely in the carousel.
What the creator did:
1. Added chapters (timestamps in the description like 0:00 Intro, 2:15 Mixing).
2. Named each chapter with the actual step.
3. Wrote a clear first line describing the whole recipe.
Think of it like a table of contents in a book — readers, and Google, can jump to the right page.
Result: over 2 months the video's appearances in the carousel for "easy banana bread" roughly doubled, adding about 3,000 views.
Try this: add three honest timestamp chapters to your newest video today. 🎓
