Your average ad price is lying to you (a little)
Reported revenue per thousand ads (your average) blends your best slots with your worst into one number.
Why it matters: a healthy average can hide a dead slot. The top ad on your article might earn great while the footer ad earns nothing, and the average looks "fine."
Tiny example: top slot earns $4, footer earns $0.20. Average shows $2.10 and you never notice the footer is broken.
One thing to try: break revenue down by slot position, not just one site-wide number. Fix or remove the worst slot before chasing new partners.
In plain English: one average number can hide a slot that's quietly earning you nothing.
