Heard this week: an edge-cache rollout that paid for itself
Word is a mid-size WordPress shop quietly moved 1,400 client sites onto a managed host's new edge-cache tier last fall. A source close to the migration tells us they were chasing a churn problem — agencies bolting after slow admin dashboards.
The before/after they're circulating internally: median time-to-first-byte dropped from 840ms to roughly 190ms once object caching hit the edge, and the support queue for 'site feels slow' tickets fell by about two-thirds inside six weeks.
The real outcome wasn't speed — it was retention. They claim monthly logo churn went from 4.1% to 2.6% over the quarter.
Unconfirmed, but the renewal numbers reportedly held.
Watch this: if it scales, expect edge-cache to stop being an upsell and start being table stakes.
