Case study: turning Net 60 into cash up front

Case study: turning Net 60 into cash up front

Payment terms tell you when you get paid. "Net 60" = the brand pays 60 days after you invoice.

A travel creator booked a $1,500 deal, then saw "Net 60" in the contract. Two months of waiting felt rough with rent due.

She countered: "I work on 50% up front, 50% on delivery." The brand agreed without a fight — it's a normal ask.

Result: $750 landed in her account before she shot a single frame. The rest came on delivery, weeks earlier than Net 60 would have.

The lesson: payment terms are negotiable, not fixed law.

Your move: on your next deal, ask for a 50% deposit. Most brands say yes if you simply ask.
