Why time of day changes your results (dayparting)
New to sweeps? Beginners run ads 24 hours and wonder why mornings and nights feel so different. Here's why.
Dayparting means choosing which hours of the day your ads run. People's willingness to enter a sweep changes by the hour, so the same ad can perform very differently at 8 AM versus midnight.
Worked example. You track your sweep by hour for two days.
— 7 to 9 AM: strong, people checking phones before work
— 1 to 4 PM: weak, people busy and distracted
— 8 to 11 PM: strong again, relaxed evening scrolling
If you run flat all day, your great morning and evening profits get eaten by wasteful afternoon spend.
The beginner move. Don't guess these hours — let real data show them first. Run a few days across all hours, read your tracker's hour-by-hour report, then pause the clearly dead hours.
A caution: you need enough clicks per hour to trust the pattern. One bad afternoon isn't proof. Look for the same dead window repeating across several days before you cut it.
The principle: your budget is limited, so spend it during the hours your audience is actually receptive.
Next step: open your tracker's hourly report and just notice which two-hour block earned the most. Don't change anything yet — only observe.
