She targeted buyer-intent keywords and her clicks finally turned into sales
A jewelry seller had plenty of Pinterest traffic — 6,000 outbound clicks a month — but a dismal sales rate. Her pins targeted browse-y phrases like 'jewelry inspiration' and 'aesthetic accessories'.
Those phrases pulled dreamers, not buyers. She built a second pin set around purchase-intent searches: 'gold hoop earrings for sensitive ears', 'minimalist necklace gift for her', 'dainty rings under $50'.
Those pins drove fewer raw clicks — about 2,800/month — but the visitors arrived ready to buy. Conversion rate on that traffic was 3.2% versus 0.4% from the browse pins. Net Pinterest revenue roughly quadrupled despite less traffic.
The keyword chooses the visitor's mindset before they ever click.
Takeaway: target buyer-intent keywords for revenue pins — fewer clicks from ready buyers beats a flood of browsers.
