The dating smartlink
Myth: "Smartlinks auto-route to the best-converting offer, so they beat picking offers yourself."
Smartlinks are sold as optimization. Read the incentive: the network earns the spread between what the advertiser pays and what they pay you. A smartlink optimizes for the network's blended margin across all its traffic — not for your specific source's revenue. When your segment would convert best on Offer A but the network's spread is fatter on Offer B, guess where the smartlink sends your click.
You also lose the data that makes you better. A smartlink hides which offer, which GEO, and which advertiser actually performed for your traffic, so you can never build a direct relationship, negotiate a bump, or diagnose a decay. You've outsourced your learning curve to a partner whose interests diverge from yours by design.
Smartlinks are fine for cleaning up remnant and off-GEO scraps. As your primary monetization, they cap you at the network's margin and keep you blind.
Reality: A smartlink optimizes the network's spread, not your revenue, and the price of the convenience is the data you'd need to outgrow it.
