New site stuck — more content or more backlinks?
Q: 5 months in, decent posts, still flat. Should I focus on links now?
A: Short answer: if your content is genuinely strong, yes — links are likely your bottleneck. Longer answer: in the early months, content gets you indexed and eligible, but trust (largely from links and brand signals) is what lets a young domain actually rank for competitive terms. If you've got 20-30 solid pages and still nothing, the issue usually isn't "write 30 more" — it's that nobody's vouching for you yet. A few relevant, earned links (digital PR, guest contributions, being genuinely citable) often unstick a site faster than doubling content. Caveat: this only applies if your content really is competitive. If it's thin, no link will save it — fix that first.
Anyone want me to go deeper on this? React 👍
