No-code workflows: the client-handoff stress test
A builder's real value shows at handoff — can a non-technical client edit safely without nuking your layout?
Elementor's role-based editing and locked elements are the most mature here; you can hide the structure panel and let clients touch only text and images. Bricks added template locking later and it's leaner but less granular. Raw Gutenberg gives clients block-level freedom that often breaks carefully built patterns.
Pros (Elementor):
— Best-in-class permission controls, lock structure per-role
Cons (Elementor):
— That safety rides on top of heavier output
Pros (Gutenberg):
— Native, no extra plugin for basic editing
Cons (Gutenberg):
— Easy for clients to delete or reorder blocks they shouldn't
Best for: agencies handing off to non-technical clients — Elementor's role controls earn their weight here.
