Ch. 10: The Income Report Where Nothing Happened
Most income reports skip the boring months. Here's a flat one. My woodworking-tools site, month 14:
— Sessions: 28,400 (down 3% from last month)
— Revenue: $1,710 ($1,150 ads, $560 affiliate)
— New posts published: 0
— Hours worked: about 6, all replying to comments
No growth, no drop, no story. And it nearly drove me to do something stupid — I almost ripped up a working site to "shake things up" out of pure boredom.
Instead I treated the flat month as data: the site was stable without me, which meant it was finally an asset, not a job. I used the dead time to start site #3 instead of fiddling with one that was fine.
Lesson banked: a boring, flat month on a mature site is a feature. The urge to mess with a stable earner has killed more sites than any algorithm.
