An advertiser offered me an exclusive deal. Good or risky?
Q: My network says I can get an exclusive on an offer with a bumped payout. Should I take it?
A: Exclusivity can be great or a quiet trap. Upside: less affiliate competition on the same offer, often a higher payout, sometimes custom creatives. Downside: you've put eggs in one basket, and if the advertiser pauses, caps hard, or pays slow, you have no diversification.
Before saying yes, ask:
— Is the payout bump big enough to justify concentration risk? (aim for 20%+ over public rate)
— What's the cap? An exclusive with a tiny cap isn't worth it
— What's the advertiser's payment history? Exclusivity to a slow payer is dangerous
— Can you exit if it underperforms, or are you locked in?
Short version: take exclusives only with a real payout bump, decent cap, and an exit. More Qs? Drop them.
