Everyone says it takes 7+ touches to convert, so build a long sequence.

Myth. That number came from warm sales cycles, not cold DMs. In cold outreach, replies cluster on touches one and two; by touch five you're not persistent, you're a stalker the reader is actively avoiding. Each extra ping trains them to ignore your name.

It's not that follow-up doesn't work — it's that <i>blind</i> follow-up burns the address. Two or three sharp touches, then stop. Persistence past indifference isn't grit, it's noise.
