Everyone adds links pointing at the shiny new post. Backwards.
Your new post has the freshest crawl priority. So I make it link OUT to 4-5 older money pages that need a boost. Fresh page = fresh crawl = those old pages get re-visited and re-evaluated.
My client's 18-month-old service page jumped 3 spots two weeks after I pointed three new blog posts at it. Did nothing to the page itself.
New content is a crawl-delivery vehicle. Aim it at your earners. Try it this week.
