A backup on the same server isn't really a backup
Many beginners set up backups but store them in the wrong place, and only learn this when it's too late.
Here's the problem. If your backup sits on the same hosting as your site, and that hosting fails or gets hacked, your backup vanishes with everything else. It's like keeping your spare key inside the locked house.
The fix: send backups somewhere SEPARATE.
— Google Drive or Dropbox (free space works for small sites)
— Your own computer, downloaded
— A dedicated backup service
Free plugins like UpdraftPlus let you connect Google Drive in a few clicks and send backups there automatically.
Aim for at least weekly, and always before updates.
In plain words: store backups OFF your hosting, so a server disaster can't take your safety copy with it.
