The math that feels obvious: $40 payout beats $20, so send the click there.
The correction: payout without conversion rate is meaningless. A $40 offer at 1% (EPC $0.40) loses to a $20 offer at 4% (EPC $0.80). Route on EPC, never raw payout.
SOP — EPC-based routing:
— Step 1: Compute EPC = payout × conversion rate, per offer, per segment.
— Step 2: Rank arms by EPC, not by payout.
— Step 3: Refresh conversion rates on a rolling window (last 300 clicks).
— Step 4: Add a confidence floor — ignore EPC from arms under 100 clicks.
Checklist:
☐ Routing decisions use EPC, not payout
☐ Conversion rate on a rolling window
☐ Low-click arms excluded from ranking
Recompute EPC and re-rank weekly.
