The pool company that got suspended every spring

The pool company that got suspended every spring

Meet a pool-maintenance company that woke up suspended at the start of peak season — the worst possible timing — for the third year running. Each spring, same disaster.

The pattern finally gave it away. Every March they made a burst of profile edits at once: new seasonal hours, fresh photos, updated services, a tweaked description, sometimes a category change — all in a day or two. To Google's anti-abuse system, a sudden cluster of major edits on an established profile looks exactly like a hijacked or sold listing. It tripped a manual-review suspension every time.

Nobody connects 'I updated my profile' to 'I got suspended.' But heavy edit velocity is a known trigger.

We changed the rhythm, not the edits. The seasonal updates went out spread across three weeks, smallest first, never touching name, address, and category in the same week. We also pre-loaded next year's hours to avoid the scramble.

That spring: no suspension. For the first time, they entered peak season live.

Peak-season pack position held at 1 instead of vanishing for the critical three weeks. Booked jobs in March up 38% over the suspended years.

The lesson: how fast you edit a profile is itself a signal — stagger big changes over weeks, because a sudden cluster can read as a hijack and get you suspended.
