SameAs, breadcrumb item URLs, related-article references in your structured data — none of it is a crawlable <code><a href></code> on the rendered page. It helps entity understanding and rich results. It does <i>not</i> flow PageRank. There's no anchor, no link graph edge.
Yet I keep seeing people list schema URLs as their "internal linking strategy" for deep pages. That page is still orphaned. Schema didn't link it — it just described it.
Equity flows through real anchors in the DOM. Everything else is metadata.
