Rich result vs featured snippet: not the same thing

Rich result vs featured snippet: not the same thing

Today's lesson: people mix these up daily. A featured snippet is one answer Google pulls to the very top in a box, pushing everyone else down. A rich result is your normal listing, just decorated with extras like stars, prices, or cook times.

Think of it this way: the snippet is the teacher reading your answer aloud to the class. The rich result is just you wearing a nicer badge in line.

Why the difference matters:

1. You win a snippet by answering one clear question in 40 to 60 words near the top of your page.
2. You earn rich result extras by adding structured data — small hidden labels that tell Google "this is a price, this is a rating."
3. They can both appear for the same page. They're not rivals.

Try this: search a recipe and a "what is" question. Spot the snippet box in one and the star ratings in the other. 🎓
