Killed the outline in my briefs. Added an 'anti-outline' instead.
Writers kept padding because my outlines told them WHAT to cover, never what to skip.
Now every brief has a 'Do NOT include' block:
— No definitions of terms the reader already knows
— No history-of-the-industry intro
— No 'there are many factors' hedging
Wriers stopped giving me 2,400 words of mush. Drafts came back 30% shorter and actually rank-able. Edit time dropped from 90 min to 25.
The brief that says 'no' is worth more than the one that says 'yes'. Try it on your next assignment.
