Everyone says "prune content" — but when is it actually safe?
Q: Should a small site with 60 posts be pruning anything yet?
A: Short answer: probably not yet — pruning is a fix for bloat you don't have. Longer answer: pruning earns its reputation on big sites where hundreds of zombie pages dilute crawl attention and topical focus. At 60 posts you don't have a bloat problem; you have a depth problem. Spend that energy improving and interlinking, not cutting. The honest signal that pruning time has arrived: a meaningful chunk of pages get zero clicks AND zero impressions over 6+ months, with no links and no strategic role. Even then, redirect or merge before you delete. Pruning is a scalpel for mature sites, not a starter move.
