<b>"Repurposed videos get suppressed for the watermark"</b>
The received wisdom: TikTok detects a CapCut or Reels watermark and throttles you. Spread because it sounds like the kind of thing a platform would do.
Why it's wrong: TikTok owns CapCut — penalizing its own export watermark would be self-sabotage. The actual demotion is for <i>foreign-platform</i> watermarks (an Instagram or Snapchat logo), and even that's about freshness and quality signaling, not a hard ban. People conflate the two and panic over the wrong logo.
What's actually true: strip competitor watermarks, re-edit so it's not a byte-identical re-upload, and you're fine. The penalty is for laziness the system can detect, not for the pixels.
The watermark isn't cursed. The lazy re-upload is.
