Myth: engagement rate by likes is the metric that matters
Likes are the weakest ranking input you can track. n=520 accounts, 45-day correlation study.
— Likes-per-reach vs reach growth: r=0.11 (negligible)
— Saves-per-reach vs growth: r=0.47
— Sends/shares-per-reach vs growth: r=0.51
Shares and saves predict next-post reach ~4x better than likes. So what: stop reporting 'engagement rate' as likes/followers. Track save-rate and send-rate; those are the levers the system actually rewards.
