New to deals? Start here: the word "perpetuity"
Most contract risk hides in one Latin word. Once you can spot it, you'll never miss it.
What it is — "in perpetuity" means forever. Usage rights in perpetuity = the brand can run your content for all time, with no end date.
Why it matters — you charged once, but they keep using it for years. You can never resell that content or fully walk away from it.
Simple example — a $500 post used for 2 years is fine. The same $500 post used forever could've earned you renewal fees every single year.
Your move — swap "in perpetuity" for a real number: "12 months of usage, renewable at 30% of base."
