The thumbnail test that runs before you publish
Word is the pre-publish thumbnail experiment doesn't just pick a winner — it caps your reachable audience based on how the losing variants performed in the first impression batch. A source says a weak B-variant can drag the ceiling on your A-variant if both went live in the rotation.
For a channel like yours:
— don't submit three thumbnails 'to be safe'; submit one you'd defend and a single sharp alternate
— a deliberately bad decoy thumbnail isn't free, it's a tax on your impressions
— the experiment is measuring your judgment, not just the image
Confidence: low-to-medium. Mechanism is plausible and a few creators saw it; not widely reproduced.
