Myth: "People always want connection — the chats call dating a forever-evergreen vertical you can set and forget."

Demand being durable doesn't make <i>offers</i> stable, and people conflate the two. The user's desire to date is recession-proof; the advertiser's willingness to pay your specific payout is not. Advertiser budgets, scrub aggressiveness, billing-processor relationships, and platform policy all shift constantly, and any one of them can halve your effective payout on a Tuesday with the underlying demand completely unchanged.

The "set and forget" framing is how affiliates get blindsided. The offer that printed for six months gets its cap slashed because the advertiser's processor dropped them, or the payout drops because they're scrubbing harder to fix their own margins. None of that shows up in "people still want to date."

Durable demand is exactly why dating is worth specializing in — but you specialize in the operations: diversifying advertisers, watching scrub trends, keeping backup offers warm. The vertical rewards attention, not autopilot.

Reality: the demand is evergreen, the offers are not — recession-proof appetite doesn't protect a single advertiser's payout for one week.
