And then there was the script where I almost rounded a number and it cost me. The hook was "I made about four grand from one email." Decent. Sat at 22k views, retention dipping under 50% fast.
Here's the thing — round numbers read as estimates, and estimates read as made up. So I pulled the exact figure from the dashboard and reshot the line: "This one email made me $3,847 in 9 days."
The result: 22k to 110k views, and the three-second hold jumped from 49% to 71%.
The lesson: an ugly specific number out-converts a clean round one every time. $3,847 has a receipt behind it. "About four grand" sounds like a guy at a bar. Specificity <i>is</i> credibility.
