<b>I replaced one abstract noun and retention moved</b>

<b>I replaced one abstract noun and retention moved</b>

A self-improvement creator opened <i>"Success comes down to your habits."</i> True, and dead — 39% three-second retention. "Success" and "habits" are abstractions; the brain can't picture them, so it scrolls.

Here's the thing — abstract nouns are invisible. The mind only grips concrete objects. So we swapped both.

New hook: <i>"The guy who beat me to a promotion did one thing: he kept a $2 notebook in his back pocket."</i> Same idea about habits and success, but now there's a notebook, a price, a pocket, a rival.

The result: three-second retention rose to 70%, and the notebook became the thing people commented about.

The principle: you can't hook with concepts, only with things. "Discipline" is invisible; "a $2 notebook in his back pocket" is a movie. Trade every abstract noun in your first line for an object the viewer can see.
