CDNs are not just for big companies.
If your affiliate site loads in 3+ seconds from another continent, you're bleeding conversions before the user even reads your headline. A CDN fixes this by serving assets from edge nodes closest to the visitor.
For most webmasters, the math is simple: Cloudflare's free tier handles static assets (images, CSS, JS) globally. Add a $5/month plan if you want real-time analytics and smarter caching rules.
One thing people get wrong: CDNs cache HTML pages too — but only if you configure cache-control headers correctly. Most setups serve HTML from origin on every request, defeating half the purpose.
Set "Cache-Control: public, max-age=3600" on pages that don't change often. For affiliate landing pages, this alone can cut server load by 60-70% and shave 400-800ms off load time for distant users.
Faster load = better Quality Score on paid campaigns = lower CPC. That's not a marginal gain, that's real money.
