<b>Why your objective decides everything else</b>
Let's start with a quiet truth: the objective you pick at the top of campaign setup tells TikTok who to find. Choose the wrong one and even great creatives flop.
Objective = the goal you optimize for (Reach, Traffic, or Conversions).
Here's the trap. If you pick Traffic, TikTok finds people who <i>tap links</i> — not people who buy. Those are different humans. You'll get cheap clicks and zero sales, then blame the ad.
For a purchase, pick Conversions. For an email sign-up, pick Conversions too (it counts any event you choose, not just sales).
Try this: open one paused campaign and read its objective out loud. Does it match what you actually want? Don't worry if it doesn't — now you know what to fix first.
