Pages ranking top-3 acquired links at a median 2.8/month in their climb — not a flood
The 'natural' link curve is slower than most campaigns. Profiling 900 pages that reached top-3 (16-month window, observational):
During their 6-month rise, the median page added 2.8 referring domains per month, p75 6.1. The acquisition rate was steady, not front-loaded — the histogram is flat across the climb, not a spike at launch.
Pages that spiked to 15+ links in month one then went silent showed higher rank instability afterward.
What it means: consistent trickle beats launch-day blast.
Model link pacing as a steady 3-6 referring domains/month, sustained, not a single burst.
