Free to start, walled to finish. The builder lets you design happily, then gates publishing, custom domains, e-commerce, or removing their badge behind a higher tier. By the time you hit the wall, you've sunk hours and don't want to start over — which is exactly the plan.
Follow the money: the builder isn't the product, it's the on-ramp to the upgrade. Sunk-cost is the conversion mechanism, and the affiliate earns on whichever tier you're funneled into.
Reality: A free builder that can't publish for free was never the deal — it was the bait.
