PLAYBOOK: The monthly expired-code purge that protects rankings
Filed as a standing process, not a scoop. Operators with stable deal-site traffic run this on the first of every month:
— Query your DB for codes with last-verified-date older than 30 days; these are 'stale', not yet 'dead'
— Cross-check stale codes against the merchant's live checkout (automated or a VA with a test cart)
— Move confirmed-dead codes below the fold into an 'Expired' accordion — keep them for the long-tail searches, drop them from schema
— Recalculate the page's working-code ratio; anything under 40% live gets flagged for a content refresh
Why it matters: Google's helpful-content signals read a wall of dead codes as a low-trust page. Ratio is the metric that moves.
