Should I wait until 1,000 daily visitors before adding ads or affiliates?
Q: I've heard not to monetize until I hit some traffic threshold. Is 1,000/day the rule?
A: Short answer: no — there's no magic visitor count that unlocks monetization. Longer answer: the "wait until you're big" advice usually confuses ad-network minimums (some need a baseline) with affiliate revenue, which has no threshold at all. You can place a relevant affiliate link on day one. What actually matters is intent: a review or comparison post can earn from its first 50 readers if the recommendation genuinely fits. Slapping ads everywhere on a tiny site mostly just slows your pages and annoys early readers for pennies. So: add affiliate links where they truly help readers now, and bring in display ads when your traffic justifies the speed tradeoff — not at an arbitrary number.
