Before publishing a coupon code, run this five-step verification checklist
A code is not verified because it appears on a brand page or in an affiliate feed. Confirm the exact offer: discount or benefit, eligible products, minimum spend, customer restrictions, and whether it can be combined with other promotions.
1. Copy the code exactly, including capitalization and spacing. 2. Test it in a clean browser session. 3. Add an eligible item and confirm the discount appears before payment. 4. Check that shipping, taxes, subscriptions, and excluded brands behave as stated.
Record the result with the test date, landing page, product used, and any error message. Save a screenshot only as internal evidence; do not present it as proof that the offer will work for every shopper. Also verify the expiration language and remove vague claims such as “sitewide” when exclusions exist.
Before publication, compare the code against the merchant’s approved terms and your network attribution rules. Never stack an unapproved code with claims of exclusivity, guaranteed savings, or universal validity. If the test fails, pause the listing and request clarification instead of guessing.
A reliable coupon page reflects the shopper’s actual checkout experience. Test the code, document the conditions, and publish only what you can support.
