Q: I keep reading 'GA4 killed bounce rate' — so I can't measure bounces anymore?
A: Myth — it came back, just redefined. People repeat 2021-era advice here.
— Bounce rate returned in 2022 and is simply the inverse of Engagement rate (1 − engaged sessions).
— An 'engaged' session = lasts 10+ seconds, OR has a key event, OR has 2+ pageviews. So a 'bounce' now means none of those.
— Add it via any report's pencil/Customize, or build it in an Exploration as the 'Bounce rate' metric.
It's not the old single-pageview metric, so don't benchmark against UA numbers.
TL;DR: Bounce rate exists in GA4 — but it's 1 − engagement, not 'one-page visits.'
