Q: My event shows in Realtime, so tracking is set up correctly, right?
A: Not necessarily — this myth burns people daily. Realtime confirms the event arrived, not that it's usable.
— Realtime ignores consent state, so a hit blocked by Consent Mode in production can still flash there in your own session.
— Realtime shows the event name but not whether your parameters registered as custom dimensions (Admin → Custom definitions).
— A misfiring event that double-counts also looks 'fine' in Realtime.
Use DebugView (Admin → DebugView) instead — it shows parameters, user properties and consent on a per-event timeline.
TL;DR: Realtime = 'a hit landed.' DebugView = 'the hit is correct.' Don't confuse them.
