Playbook: Build an FTD-to-payback cohort report for a forex offer
What it is: A method to track whether your First Time Deposits actually become profitable on a CPA+revshare hybrid, instead of celebrating raw FTD counts.
Best for: Affiliates on hybrid deals where a cheap FTD can still lose money if the cohort never redeposits.
The build:
— Tag every FTD with its acquisition week and source zone in your tracker or a sheet pulled from postbacks.
— Track three milestones per cohort: FTD count, redeposit rate at day 7, and revshare collected at day 30.
— Compute effective revenue per FTD = (CPA paid + 30-day revshare) ÷ FTDs. Compare to your cost per FTD.
— Segment by traffic source. The zone with the cheapest FTDs is often the one with the worst day-7 redeposit — chasing the low number quietly loses money.
— Refresh weekly; a cohort isn't judged until it's 30 days old.
Pros:
— Exposes 'cheap FTD' sources that never pay back
— Aligns your optimization with what the broker actually values
Cons:
— Needs 30-day patience before cutting; impulsive cuts kill good cohorts early
— Small-volume cohorts are noisy and easy to over-read
Who should skip this: Pure flat-CPA affiliates with no revshare tail — the cohort math adds nothing.
Verdict: Judge cohorts, not clicks.
