Myth: Controversy Always Wins Reach
"Be polarizing to go viral" confuses heat with spread. The correction: most controversy generates angry comments (engagement) but low shares and saves — and trains the algorithm to show you to people who hate-watch. That's a reach trap. Use the productive-tension SOP.
1. Pick a debate where being right gives the sharer status.
2. Frame it as "a take smart people agree with," not a flame.
3. Make the shareable version a clean claim, not an insult.
4. Track share/comment ratio — below 1:10 means you bought a fight, not reach.
Hate-engagement is a sugar high. Engineer agreement-worth-spreading instead.
Run it weekly.
