IndexNow vs Google Indexing API: head-to-head
Constantly confused as the same thing. They share almost nothing.
Coverage:
— IndexNow → Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver. Never Google.
— Google Indexing API → Google only.
Scope:
— IndexNow → any URL, any content type.
— Google API → officially JobPosting + BroadcastEvent only.
Auth/effort:
— IndexNow → host a key file, plain POST. Minutes.
— Google API → Cloud project, service account, OAuth. An hour.
Quota:
— IndexNow → generous, throttle-on-abuse.
— Google API → 200/day.
Pros IndexNow: trivial, broad non-Google reach.
Cons: zero Google value.
Pros Google API: real same-day Google crawl for supported types.
Cons: narrow scope, low quota, misuse risk.
Best for: run BOTH — IndexNow for Bing/AI-search, Google API only if you publish jobs or livestreams.
Not a Google general-indexing solution exists here. Anyone selling that is selling gray-hat.
