Myth: "Never touch the sample content, it's important"

When you first install WordPress, it adds a "Hello world!" post, a "Sample Page", and a comment from a fake user. Some beginners hide these or build around them, afraid they're part of the engine.

They're not. They're just placeholders to show you the site works, like the demo photo inside a new picture frame.

Delete them safely:
— Go to Posts, hover "Hello world!", click Trash
— Go to Pages, do the same to "Sample Page"
— Under Comments, remove the demo comment

Don't worry, this is fully reversible. Trashed items sit in the Trash folder for 30 days before they vanish, so you can restore them if needed.

In plain words: the sample content is a demo, throw it out with confidence.
