Most arbitrageurs nail positioning for their first campaign, then lose it completely at scale. The problem isn't that positioning changes — it's that founders copy what worked once without understanding why.
Your positioning lives or dies on three things. First, clarity about who you're not. If you claim to serve "everyone interested in X," you serve no one. Narrow it ruthlessly: beginners vs. pros, price-sensitive vs. performance-obsessed, geographic regions, use cases. The smaller the slice you own, the easier it is to own it completely. Broad positioning gets buried in noise.
Second, consistency across touchpoints. Your landing page says one thing, your ad creative says another, your email onboarding says a third. Readers notice. They get confused, they leave. One positioning statement. One narrative thread. Every channel reinforces the same core claim.
Third, differentiation that sticks. "Better quality" and "faster support" are table stakes — they don't differentiate. Find the angle nobody else owns: a specific methodology, a unique customer type, an outcome others don't promise, a price model that flips the market. Make it hard to copy.
When you scale without these three, your ads compete on price instead of positioning. Your CAC rises. Your LTV stagnates. The fix isn't more creative or bigger budgets — it's going back to positioning and building it right.
