Myth: set a low bid cap to control costs
It feels safe to set a tiny bid cap (the most you'll pay per result). Often it just stalls your campaign. Let's see why.
If your bid cap is below what the auction really costs, TikTok simply can't win placements for you. Your ad barely spends, gets little data, and never escapes learning. You're 'protected' right into invisibility.
For beginners, the gentlest start is letting TikTok manage it.
Bidding ladder:
— Begin with Lowest Cost (no cap), let the system find the price
— Once you know your true cost per result, add a cap slightly above it
Try this: if an ad group is barely spending, check whether a bid cap is choking it. Remove it and watch. You're not overspending, you're letting it breathe.
