Myth: posting more often always grows your account
The question: is daily (or twice-daily) posting the growth lever it's sold as, or does frequency hit diminishing — even negative — returns?
The 'post daily' advice borrows from a volume mindset and from creators who post daily and grew. That's survivorship bias: we see the daily posters who succeeded, not the many whose quality collapsed under the cadence. Some algorithm reports note posts can cannibalize each other when spaced under ~18-24 hours.
Three findings:
— Two strong posts a week often beat five rushed ones on total reach, because reach concentrates on standout content.
— A second post within a day can suppress the first while it's still distributing.
— Consistency (a predictable rhythm) matters more than raw frequency for audience retention.
Caveats: optimal cadence varies by account size and content depth; observational data. Directional.
Bottom line: frequency is not the metric — average post quality times consistency is. Find the most frequent cadence you can sustain without quality decay, then stop there.
