The mechanism: TikTok weights <i>viewer</i> actions — comments left, shares, completion — far above creator activity. Your replies barely register as a distribution signal; they're a community tactic, not an algo one.
What's true: reply to spark <i>more viewer comments</i> (a pinned reply that asks a question works) — the second-order effect helps. The replies themselves don't. Optimize for the conversation, not for being busy in it.
