It's superstition dressed as strategy — pure cargo cult. Creators copy the tags from videos that went viral and assume the tags caused it. No one isolated the variable.
The mechanism: TikTok reads your <i>content</i> — audio, objects, on-screen text, captions — to classify a video, not generic spam tags everyone uses. Putting #fyp on a clip tells the system nothing it can act on.
What's true: use 1-2 specific, descriptive tags that match the actual topic (#sourdoughstarter beats #viral). Hashtags are weak classification hints, not a backstage pass.
